I have made some overall tweaks to the website, such as removing the "Early Access" page entirely and moving its contents to My Open Hexagon Packs and overall information updates. That kind of thing is small, but I want to talk about something bigger.
Since I am starting to host my own osu! beatmaps here on my site, I thought about continuing to update my maps that I'm still working on, maps like furioso melodia and the remap of Kami Jigen! Fortune Material. And while I will continue to do a lot of self-modding for those maps and publish them, sure, the problem comes in with taking mods for those maps.
Weebly used to have a "Forum" feature, meaning I could host a simple forum here on the site. And in 2014 this was a thing. Really really early visitors will remember a sort of forum that I used to have for this site, which consisted of nothing but it was an attempt to get some community feedback for my Open Hexagon packs.
Now that Weebly has removed the forum feature from their editor (rightfully so, because I remember it being incredibly limiting and quite shit) - I don't know what to do.
I do want to take mods again, yes, but the problem is how?
Some would say I could do it through the official osu! forums. While I can't post there, modders can. And you would be right, it'd be way more convenient for modders to post there in general and then me updating the map(s) here. However, know that whenever I run osu!, I am always on Ripple - a private osu! server for restricted players. This means I cannot view the osu! forums while I am on osu! itself, making modding literally impossible for me.
Why not just log out of Ripple and do it through official osu! while taking mods?
I can only do that with maps that are currently submitted. If I finish a new map I worked on for a while, I won't be able to submit it to official osu! to take mods from there, making this thing way more inconvenient than it should be.
Another problem is if other restricted/banned osu! players want to mod my maps. They are pretty much in the same boat as me, meaning they cannot post their mods on the official osu! threads either. And I want every osu! mapper, banned or not, to help me mod my maps. I want this to be open for everyone, not just to people who aren't banned.
So I am currently out of ideas. I want to take mods for my maps, yes, but since Weebly removed their, admittedly shitty forum system, I don't know what to do.
I could start a third-party ProBoards forum, yes, since they give a lot more customizability, but...well, I don't know, I'll have to think about this for a while.
But for now, guess I'll self-mod for a while.
